Research activity of the Natural Science Teaching Section
in 2013-2016

The subjects researched by the Natural Science Teaching Section are interdisciplinary in nature; they relate to natural science in the context of new challenges of our civilisation and the effectiveness of the education process. For many years now, our scientific interest has focused on the selection and didactic transformation as well as the structure of the education context in formal schooling in the context of reforms to the natural science education system, as well as extra-formal and informal education. It includes, among others, research on the functionality of syllabus bases and teaching syllabuses, evaluating the effects of environmental training during courses on the teaching of natural science, biology and chemistry at all stages of education. Research on the contemporary problems of natural science and environmental education also concerned the threats to and the protection of biodiversity, determining the extent to which Sustainable Development is achieved in the area of biology and the society, the needs of education for sustainable development in formal and informal education in Poland and globally. The research also covers the measurement and assessment of the level of environmental knowledge and awareness of young people as well as the effectiveness of natural science education in the knowledge-based society. Research work is focused on the modern teaching of natural science subjects taking into account ICT technologies (information technology, e-learning, blended learning, online laboratories, IBSE – training by experiment) as well as animating the naturalist culture. Employees of the Section take part in planning and conducting scientific research or educational projects. 

In the last three years, the achievements of the Natural Science Teaching Section have been presented as number is domestic and international conferences;

Knowledge area: threats to biodiversity and the effectiveness of teaching about them

Research with the involvement of students carried out in 2014 – 2016. It resulted in a Master of science thesis:

The results of the above research was also presented the following conference:

Knowledge area: modern teaching of natural science using ICT technology
